These issues have been resolved. 22604, 23218 Summary: Instability in IIS on specific messages Component: IIS Platform: Windows Formerly, certain specific messages caused issues with IIS, sometimes resulting in potentially exploitable crashes which then resulted in backups in the mail queue. No known exploits currently exist in the field. These issues have been resolved. 19818 Summary: OPL verdicts not reported if IP address is found in message header Component: Reporting Platform: All Formerly, spam messages received from IP addresses listed on the OPL were correctly deleted/quarantined based on the configured group policy, but were not reported on the Status page of the Control Center. This issue has been resolved. These verdicts are now reported correctly on the Status page of Control Center. 21591 Summary: Delivery information occasionally missing in Message Tracking page Component: Reporting Platform: Unix only Formerly, delivery information was occasionally missing for certain messages. This issue has been resolved. 21661 Summary: Relayed messages cannot be delivered to non-ESMTP MTAs Component: IIS Platform: Windows only Formerly, messages relayed to non-ESMTP MTAs were rejected. This issue has been resolved; when encountering an SMTP-only MTA, the transaction will now fall back to SMTP. 21842 Summary: Scanning of certain filetypes causes instability Component: Gatekeeper Platform: All Formerly, scanning of certain filetypes was causing instability in the Scanner. This issue has been resolved. 24121 Summary: New patch installer script needed Component: Upgrade Platform: All A new patch installation process has been created. It is recommended that you set each Scanner that you are patching to temporarily reject incoming connections. It is also recommended that you drain the message queues before you apply this patch, unless the issues addressed in this patch resolve problems with messages which are currently stuck in the queues. Draining your message queues ---------------------------- To stop delivery and drain a Scanner's message queue 1 In the Control Center, click Settings > Hosts. 2 Check the box next to the Scanner and click Edit. 3 Click Do not accept incoming messages. 4 Click Save. 5 Allow messages to drain from the queue. You can check message queue status in Status > Message Queues. To re-enable message delivery (do this after you have installed the patch) 1 In the Control Center, click Settings > Hosts. 2 Check the box next to the Scanner and click Edit. 3 Click Accept and deliver messages normally. 4 Click Save. Installation ------------ To install the patch, follow these steps:
Windows: 1. Download the patch installers for Scanner and Control Center. 2. Copy the Scanner patch installer to your Scanner machine(s) and the Control Center patch installer to your Control Center. 3. Run the Control Center patch installer by double clicking the icon for sms-smtp-bcc.msp 4. Run the Scanner patch installer by double clicking on the icon for sms-smtp-scanner.msp 5. When the patch is installed, restart the machine. Note: If you have both running on a single machine, copy both patch installers to that machine and run the Control Center patch first, then the Scanner patch without rebooting the machine. 6. Restart the following services from the Control Center: Filter Engine Conduit LiveUpdate UNIX: 1. Download the patch file. 2. Unpack the tar file in a temporary directory on your Control Center or Scanner host. 3. Change to the unpacked temporary directory. 4. As root, type ./install The script stops services, copies the needed files to the proper locations, and then restarts the services. 5. Ensure all services have properly restarted. Service names are bcc and smssmtpmta. |
