Summary: New patch installer script needed
Component: Upgrade
Platform: All
A new patch installation process has been created. Instructions for using
the new installation script are included below.

Installation Instructions
=========================

It is recommended that you set each Scanner that you are patching to
temporarily reject incoming connections. It is also recommended that
you drain the message queues before you apply this patch, unless the
issues addressed in this patch resolve problems with messages which
are currently stuck in the queues.

Draining your message queues
----------------------------
To stop delivery and drain a Scanner's message queue
1 In the Control Center, click Settings > Hosts.
2 Check the box next to the Scanner and click Edit.
3 Click Do not accept incoming messages.
4 Click Save.
5 Allow messages to drain from the queue.
You can check message queue status in Status > Message Queues.

To re-enable message delivery (do this after you have installed the patch)
1 In the Control Center, click Settings > Hosts.
2 Check the box next to the Scanner and click Edit.
3 Click Accept and deliver messages normally.
4 Click Save.

Installation
------------
To install the patch, follow these steps:

Windows:

1.  Download the patch installers for Scanner and Control Center.

2.  Copy the Scanner patch installer to your Scanner machine(s) and the
Control Center patch installer to your Control Center.

3.  Run the Control Center patch installer by double clicking the icon for
  sms-smtp-bcc.msp

4.  Run the Scanner patch installer by double clicking on the icon for
  sms-smtp-scanner.msp

5.  When the patch is installed, restart the machine.
Note: If you have both running on a single machine, copy both patch
installers to that machine and run the Control Center patch first,
then the Scanner patch without rebooting the machine.

6.  Restart the following services from the Control Center:
  Filter Engine
  Conduit
  LiveUpdate

UNIX:

1.  Download the patch file.

2.  Unpack the tar file in a temporary directory on your Control
  Center or Scanner host.

3.  Change to the unpacked temporary directory.

4.  As root, type
  ./install

The script stops services, copies the needed files to the proper
locations, and then restarts the services.

5.  Ensure all services have properly restarted.
Service names are bcc and smssmtpmta.
